About the Town

The Town of Oxford, a traditional New England community, provides a safe, stable, environment for the growth of business and family.

Oxford provides many unique economic opportunities for business creation, expansion and relocation. Oxford is easily accessible to all major markets through a network of Interstate and Interstate roadways. Interstate 84, the primary east/west transportation route is located within 1 mile of the Waterbury Oxford Airport, which is situated within the Corporate / Industrial area. Route 8, the north/south transportation is also located just 1 mile from the Town's border.

Available land is another of Oxford's many resources. The industrial zone, located within the Northeast section of Oxford, contains over 2,500 acres of pristine industrial land. The land is zoned for quality economic development with parcel sizes ranging between 2.5 to hundreds of acres. Local zoning provides opportunities for all business types, including commercial, industrial and manufacturing. The Oxford Economic Development team and the Planning and Zoning Commission are dedicated to assisting the approval process that will help businesses enter the marketplace as quickly as possible.

Oxford is also fortunate to have a diverse labor force. Located within the Naugatuck Valley, Oxford has access to workers with a history of excellent technology, manufacturing and industrial skills.

Training provided by seven regional technical and community colleges ensure that skilled works will be available to employers for years to come. Additionally, Oxford's proximity to major universities enables businesses to draw upon highly educated, professional individuals for a variety of employment needs.

The quality of life within Oxford is also an attractive benefit to local business. The Oxford school system, public services and recreational activities are priorities in the community. The picturesque countryside offers outdoor attractions such as fishing, boating, picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, and winter sports. Cultural events such as the summer concert series and a multitude of community events complete the offerings.
